2012 Banner Year winners

Banner contest

Thanks to all of the FC Dallas fans who participated in our 2012 Banner Year contest. These fan-created banners will line the blue wall that surrounds the pitch at FC Dallas Stadium for every FC Dallas home game. At the end of the season, the chosen banners will be autographed by the entire FC Dallas team and returned to the creator for a memorable souvenir of the 2012 season.

We're pleased to announce the following winners:

2012 Banner Year winners -

Jay Burchfield

I live in: Dallas

Are you a season ticket holder? If so, how many years?: Yes, ~ 5 years.

Favorite FCD player: David Ferreira

Idea behind the design: To incorporate the original team name and logo, and a nod toward the heat factor visiting teams face in July and August.

2012 Banner Year winners -

Neeti Butala

I live in: Little Elm

Season ticket holder: no

Favorite FCD player: Brek Shea

Idea behind the design: I love soccer, and I feel that it's not only a game but a way of life.

2012 Banner Year winners -

George Fairchild

Season ticket holder: No, but I attend games regularly.

Favorite FCD player: Brek Shea

Idea behind the design: I wanted to make a banner that portrayed FC Dallas as a club that unifies multiple nationalities so I put all the Flags of the countries represented by FC Dallas players and coaches. The motto just highlights this bond and I wrote it in English and Spanish because those were the two most represented languages.

2012 Banner Year winners -

Schuyler Griffith

I live in: Dallas

Season ticket holder: Sadly no, but attend 5+ matches per year.

Favorite FCD player: Brek Shea

Idea behind the design: Wanted to do something simple, specific and motivating for both supporters and players. The star is important in the Texas flag, U.S. flag and on the FCD logo. The cannon brings up imagery of a stout defense and a powerful shot/cannonball. Lastly, "Dallas 'Til I Die" simply had to be displayed to tie it all together and give it a true, local touch. This banner can only hang in one stadium.

2012 Banner Year winners -

Kenna Owens

I live in: Fort Worth

Are you a season ticket holder? If so, how many years?: Yes, it’s my second year and have NOT missed a home game in 2 years!

Favorite FCD player: Kevin Hartman

Idea behind the design: I decided to create the "You Betta BREKKEN-IZE" banner because Brek is becoming the new face of the franchise/team and I wanted to show my support and encouragement for all he is doing for FCD, USMNT & Olympic team. I "Tweeted" the idea of the banner to @BrekShea on twitter and he replied to me "That's DOPE!", so I went with it.

2012 Banner Year winners -

Alan Sartain

I live in: Forney

Are you a season ticket holder? If so, how many years?: Multiple Flex Plans - 2 years - We find that with a blended family the flex plans lets us attend more games together.

Favorite FCD player: Kevin Hartman!!!!!! Incredible!

Idea behind the design: It was a family effort (Becky, Gabbie, Erin, Jackson and Ethan). We all worked together to come up with something bright, colorful and inspiring with a modern look. We think it represents our feeling about the team and club as a whole.
