AMSTERDAM – Brøndby
have revealed that center back Clarence Goodson finished last week's club debut
against Lyngby sporting a broken toe, from which he is expected to return to full
training at the end of this month.
Despite already being ruled out by the medical staff, the US defender was
registered in this past weekend's squad as a bit of a gambit by manager Henrik
Jensen for the 2-0 win over SønderjyskE.
"He got injured in the last game," Brøndby press officer Mikkel
Davidsen told MLSsoccer.com. "He suffered a broken toe. We aren't even
sure when it happened in the game."
Though Goodson will likely only miss three games, the club are disappointed
that he will not be available for Sunday's derby visit to runaway SAS Liga
leaders FC Copenhagen.
"He will miss the game against our rivals," Davidsen stated. "It
is not good for us that he is out for that."
Goodson, who signed on a free transfer from Norwegian side IK Start, immediately
won a starting place after joining the 10-time Danish champions during
the midseason transfer window.
Second-place Brøndby trail FC Copenhagen by 20 points with 12 matches to play, fully concentrated on hanging onto the Champions League
qualifying slot they currently hold with two teams nipping at their heels.
