The first goal of the competition went to Maykel Galindo, who buried a point-blank shot after a nice buildup from Brayan Martinez and Bryan Leyva. The red team countered quickly. The 15-minute match ended 1-0 in favor of the reserves and the coaching staff shuffled the lineups.

Reshuffling
Bobby Warshaw gained a first-team nod, filling in for Eric Alexander in the defensive midfield. Brek Shea and Marvin Chavez swapped sides. Shea played the first 15 minutes on the right side of midfield and the second 15 on the left. Trialist Sheldon Palmer came on for Marvin Chavez midway through the second 15-minute game. Eric Alexander replaced Bryan Leyva at the same time.

Goals
Prior to coming off, Leyva combined with Peri Marosevic to send Jason Yeisley in alone on goalkeeper Josh Lambo. With the red team’s defense playing very high, Yeisley had a long time to stare down Lambo before finishing low into the right corner of the goal.

Green continued to pour it on after going up 1-0. Yeisley did well to keep the play alive, racing to the end line and crossing the ball back towards the penalty mark. The ball was deflected out to the top of the 18-yard box, where Victor Ulloa hit a shot with his first touch. The shot was partially blocked, but Charlie Campbell was in great position to side-volley the rebound into the back of the net for a 2-0 lead.

A few moments later, Andrew Wiedeman came forward from his right back position to center a ball. Defender Ugo Ihemelu won the ball in, knocking the ball high into the air around the top of the box. The second header was cleared to the back of the 18-yard box, but Alexander was in perfect position to half-volley a line drive low to the far post for a 2-0 lead.

With that the coaches called it quits for the first session. The team will return at 4:30 pm for their second session of the day.
