FRISCO, Texas – The FC Dallas U-17s got three valuable goals from three different forwards Friday night as they shut out reigning champion D.C. United at Pizza Hut Park to advance to the Generation adidas championship game. Frontrunners Alfred Koroma, Victor Portillo and Bobby Edet all tallied for Dallas in the semifinal matchup.

FC Dallas got the scoring started in the 13th minute when left back Fernando Laverde played a long ball up field to a streaking Koroma. Koroma used his finishing touch to place the ball past goalkeeper Alec Dockser to give the home team an early advantage.

Dallas doubled their lead 20 minutes later. Midfielder Diego De La Tejera Farias used his speed to work up the right side of the field towards the touchline before sending a cross into the box. In the penalty area, Portillo jumped to one-time a right-footed shot past the ‘keeper and put FCD up 2-0.

D.C. nearly pulled one back in first half stoppage time, but goalkeeper Richard Sanchez did well to make a diving save to shut down the play just before the whistle.

In the 59th minute of the second half, Koroma nearly earned a brace when he broke into the right side of the box to get in one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but Dockser did well to save the attempt and keep the game within reach for United.

The reigning champs’ hopes of a repeat were shot down in the 75th minute when second half substitute Edet tallied to give Dallas the 3-0 win.

FC Dallas will face the LA Galaxy in the Generation adidas Cup championship game on Field 8 Sunday at 10 a.m. The Galaxy’s roster features several players who were part of the USSDA U-16 championship team at Finals Week in Milwaukee two weeks ago. LA won Group D with two wins and one loss and beat Chivas USA 3-1 in the semifinal round to advance to the championship game.
