The Yanks Are Coming is starting a new series that will give updated thoughts on who they think should be in the top 23 when the 2014 FIFA World Cup rolls around. Brek Shea is the fourth highest rated player behind Tim Howard, Clint Dempsey, and Landon Donovan.

Tuesday, November 1: Ghosts of Dallas loss still haunt Galaxy 12 months later (MLSSoccer)
Before the Galaxy’s game against the New York Red Bulls last Wednesday night, the Galaxy players still remembered the 3-0 drubbing at the hands of FC Dallas in last year’s Conference Championship game. The “over-confident” Galaxy had to watch as FCD celebrated the victory and knew that the name on their jersey was not enough to win a game. After winning the 2011 Western Conference Championship over Real Salt Lake last weekend, the Galaxy will now face the Houston Dynamo for the MLS Cup.

Thursday, November 3: FC Dallas’ Brek Shea called up for national team duty (Dallas Morning News)
Brek Shea joins the normal cast of characters for the November friendlies against France and Slovenia. Alfredo Morales and Fabian Johnson are looking to get their feet wet after being called into camp for the first time. L.A. Galaxy forward Landon Donovan will play in the game against France before coming back stateside to prepare for the MLS Cup against the Houston Dynamo.

Thursday, November 3: With attendance surpassing the NBA, is MLS soccer for real? (Rant Sports)
Rant Sports writer Robert Cobb takes a shot at explaining how the MLS has become so popular in the U.S. MLS reached a new high in attendance this year, which has surpassed the NBA and NHL marks over the past couple seasons. New TV contracts and raucous crowds in the Pacific Northwest, an area the NBA has yet to firmly place roots in, has the future for MLS looking bright.

Friday, November 4: Shea to train with Arsenal (ESPNSoccernet)
FC Dallas star Brek Shea will head to Arsenal to train with the Gunners during the MLS offseason in order to stay in top shape for U.S. international friendlies. USMNT head coach Jurgen Klinsmann encouraged MLS-based players that are in the USMNT picture to train overseas to stay fit for international duty. FC Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman is excited for the chance that Shea will have to improve his game and challenge himself against the best in the world.
