CURRENT FORM

  • FC Dallas went on a three-game win streak last month but now finds itself in the midst of a four-game winless run that includes two losses and two ties. While two of those results came against two of MLS's top teams in Orlando City and Columbus Crew, it's still not the form that Luchi and co. are hoping, despite the busy run of games. Minnesota United is in a similar boat with a string of wins during September but has since registered one win in its last six outings. Sunday's game offers an opportunity for both teams to recapture their September form.

A NEW RIVALRY?

  • Because of the altered 2020 MLS season, FC Dallas and Minnesota United will face each other FOUR times over the regular season. With the number of matchups and both teams in a similar place in the Western Conference, it could be the burgeoning of a new rivalry. The teams have faced each other twice already, with Dallas winning its home match 3-1 and Minnesota taking the second game 3-2 at Allianz Field last month. The results of Sunday's game and the final FCDvMIN matchup at Allianz Field on Decision Day could potentially decide both clubs' playoff fates.

ANDRÉS RICAURTE

  • Midfielder Andrés Ricaurte was lively in Dallas 2-0 loss in the Texas Derby to Houston Wednesday night. The Colombian hit the post in the first half and followed it up by nearly scoring from the halfway line with a looping shot that forced a smart save from the Dynamo's keeper. While Ricaurte's influence faded somewhat in the second half as Houston defended deep in their final third, he could be poised for another strong performance this Sunday at Toyota Stadium.

POTENTIAL ROTATION

  • Wednesday's game in Houston saw Luchi field the same lineup in back-to-back matches for just the third time this season. With the same 11 players having already played two games this week, it's likely that we'll see a fair amount of rotation when Dallas takes on the Loons Sunday night. The Homegrown trio of Dante Sealy,Ricardo Pepi and Tanner Tessmann were all used as substitutes at BBVA Stadium midweek, but the quick turnaround could see them get the start this time around.
