Story Lines
Farrington's Form: FC Dallas now has another in-form forward in addition to leading scorer Petar Musa. Last week, second-year striker Logan Farrington made the most of first start since May by scoring an impressive solo goal in FCD's 2-1 defeat to Minnesota United. Prior to the game, Farrington had just one goal under his belt this season and had been limited to substitute appearances for more than a month. But, with wingers Bernard Kamungo and Anderson Julio injured, Farrington was called upon to start at right wing and stamped his mark on the game with a 73rd-minute strike into the side netting of Dayne St. Clair's goal. With Farrington off the mark for the first time since March, head coach Eric Quill has two in-form strikers to work with heading into Saturday's matchup with LAFC.
Two-Game Trip: FC Dallas heads to California with six points up for grabs. The team is set to take on sixth-place LAFC Saturday night before heading north to face the San Jose Earthquakes three days later. Dallas has yet to play LAFC this season but will be looking for revenge in San Jose Wednesday having been defeated by the Earthquakes at home just two weeks ago. Considering 16 of Dallas' 21 points have been earned on the road this season, the club will be eyeing all six points on this two-game road trip.
LAFC: Dallas takes on an LAFC team sitting in 6th place in the West (although 5th on a points-per-game basis). Steve Cherundolo's team only recently returned to MLS action having taken a month off for its FIFA Club World Cup campaign. Since returning, the club has recorded a 1-0 defeat to the Vancouver Whitecaps and a dominant 3-0 win over the Colorado Rapids Wednesday night. As usual, LAFC's attack is spearheaded by forward Denis Bouanga who has nine goals and six assists on the season. On the other hand, FCD won't need to worry about France's all-time leading scorer Olivier Giroud as the veteran departed LAFC at the end of June. One thing to keep in mind, LAFC will be on short rest for Saturday's match having played midweek while Dallas will enter BMO Stadium with eight days of recovery having last played on Friday, July 4.
